Meal Re-Cap and Giveaway Reminder

First up!

Reminder: Today on Amazon is the last day you can get the natural health book I co-edited Kick Your Menstrual Cramps in the Nuts

If you don’t have a Kindle, there are free apps to read it on your phone/computer/iPad etc.

To those of you that don’t have a vagina, I still highly recommend reading this book if you have any other kind of health issue or if you’re looking to lose weight. The book focuses on the science of managing chemical imbalances within the body to restore yourself to optimal health. It’s hands on self-help for anyone that hates going to the doctors office, like me.

I will also note, it is thanks to this science I don’t take any synthetic drugs to manage my bipolar: it’s all through natural supplements and food choices.

Plus, it’s FREE, so why not check it out and pass it on?

You’ll make me look good.

And because my food posting have been few and far between, here’s a look at what yummy things I’ve been eating this week:

Grilled chicken marinated in homemade Italian dressing, mixed salad and roasted brussels sprouts

Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Grab a piece of aluminum foil. Dump on a cup of brussels sprouts that you’ve cut in half. Top with a tablespoon of coconut oil, garlic powder, sea salt and pepper. Wrap up aluminum foil. Toss in toaster oven at 400 for 15 minutes. Open foil and broil for 5 minutes. Enjoy the best roasted brussels sprouts ever.

Leftover chicken over cucumbers and chopped kale

Scrambled eggs with zucchini and stir fry vegetables

Organic chicken kabobs with homemade mojo

Kabobs have: potato (for him), zucchini, red pepper, onion and chicken marinated in mojo (made by the boy- he’s a keeper). I had been CRAVING kabobs like crazy. Maybe because they remind me so much of summer. Plus, it’s an easy way to cook a bunch of veggies (especially for people like us who have a huge assortment from our organic produce box) and lean protein for a healthy meal, so do it up!

Worked on a music video shoot Wednesday night so I was pretty exhausted yesterday, but I still managed to go for an 8 mile run. I’m not super fast, but if I maintain my pace next weekend, I should be able to finish the half in under 2:45:00. Trained in the gym this morning with incredibly sore quads (particularly my “rectus femorus”… gonna get that cert!) and plan to go for 10 tomorrow morning before our regular Saturday errands (pick-up/farmer’s market), and then a trip back to Universal 🙂

Looking forward to a low key evening… probably gonna do some yoga in the park before going to watch the boy’s softball game, and then we have We Need to Talk About Kevin to watch and some garlic chicken on the agenda. Sounds good to me!

What are your weekend plans? Been eating tasty food? Have you downloaded my freakin book yet?

  1. Brussels sprouts are by far my fave veggie. Now I want some!
I didn’t even know they made a movie of We Need To Talk About Kevin – I read the book a few years ago and it really stood out to me. How was it?

It was very well done, both visually and the performances. But from what I understand, the book explains things a lot more clearly. I’d recommend it.
