Cobb Salad

Not just any Cobb Salad; quite possibly the best I’ve ever eaten.

That being said, I don’t think I’ve eaten many Cobb Salads due to the fact that I was off meat for so long, and when I was inhaling things like bacon on a regular basis, I certainly was not ordering a salad in a restaurant.

Last night I met my beautiful friend Grace for dinner in Burbank. She was my best friend in college, so it’s always nice to reconnect in “real life.” She was in town for the UM Showcase so it was the perfect opportunity to catch one another up on our lives 🙂

Olive & Thyme was right down the block from the hotel, so I jumped at the chance to bring her there. I actually interviewed here back in November and fell in love with it. They didn’t hire me… so I never ate there haha

It’s quaint and small, and super cute inside. There’s one display case full of salads and veggies, another full of cheeses, then tasty looking desserts, then a fun wine bar. They carry Intelligentsia Coffee too, although I did not partake.

It’s a pretty standard LA, order and they give you your number (which I like because the pressure for tipping isn’t quite so high!) and there’s serve-yourself water as well.

There were so many things to choose from! Lots of soups, salads and sandwiches (even though all I wanted was a pint of LA Creamery ice cream) but I ultimately decided on the Cobb Salad with the only modification being my opting for goat cheese instead of bleu. My readers know by now how OBSESSED I am with goat cheese, and since they carry higher end stuff, I had to go for it.

Unfortunately, I was so wrapped up in conversation I forgot to snap a picture, but here’s pictures of other people’s salads:

The thing is HUGE and that dressing is killer. Spicy, tangy and creamy… I opted for the “dunk” method instead of pouring it over top, partly so I wouldn’t use too much, but mostly because I knew I was going to take half for lunch today and there’s nothing worse than a soggy salad.

Before leaving we grabbed a homemade oreo cookie to share, and that didn’t disappoint either. About double the size of a normal oreo, it was covered in rock sugar and the frosting was some marscapone concoction that made me swoon.

I highly recommend this spot for lunch or a light dinner. I will definitely be going back!

Had a bit of hectic morning… my keys fell out of my bag on the way to the gym.

I know, I suck.

Luckily the roommate called the special locksmith that does key code keys and I will be picking up my new key after work, and am crossing my fingers that they can do the boy’s bike lock code key as well so I don’t have to wait weeks for it to ship.

This will be the last post for the week because tomorrow morning we leave for mystery adventure weekend! I’m so excited!!! I don’t know what I did to deserve a guy like this but I couldn’t be happier.
